Zyxel VM8623-T50B Password Reset

Simpler Than I Expected

So my particular router was provided by my Internet Service Provider (ISP) here in the UK, and honestly it has been rock solid in the two years I have had it. One major issue with it has been the fact that I did not have access to the admin control panel page, as the admin password was consistently being marked as "wrong or locked" for whatever reason this may have been. The most irritating part was that the admin username and password were literally printed on a sticker on the back of the router - along with the SSIDs and passwords for the WiFi networks. The password could not, therefore, be wrong.

Having finally gotten around to phoning the ISP, they informed me that the password reset procedure was as simple as entering the default username (as mentioned above, printed on the sticker on the back of the router), and the router's serial number, also printed on the same sticker. This launched a typical password reset screen with "New Password" and "Confirm Password" boxes. The new password is now safely stored away in a password manager, and no-longer corresponds to the one printed on the router itself. Time to play around with all the fun networking options. Starting point will be altering the DHCP and DNS settings and table respectively for my DIY NAS project... Oops, spoilers?
